NAUS Web Site Privacy Statement

General

The National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, donors, customers and other web site visitors or users. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. NAUS is the sole owner of the information collected on this web site, and does not sell, share or rent this information to others except as disclosed in this privacy statement.

Information Collection and Use

NAUS does collect and use certain non-public personal information from members and other web site visitors in order to fulfill requests for information and assistance; to process online NAUS membership applications and dues payments; to fulfill orders for NAUS publications or merchandise; and to update membership profile information.

NAUS reserves the right to share information with trusted third-party vendors under contract with NAUS to provide products or services for NAUS and its membership. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of marketing and providing these products or services.

NAUS also shares aggregate information with our vendors and advertisers. This aggregate information does not contain personally identifiable information and therefore cannot identify any specific individual.

During your web site visit, NAUS will automatically gather and store certain information about your visit but not about you personally. NAUS automatically collects and stores the following visit information:

  • The Internet domain from which access to the NAUS web site is gained;
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access the NAUS site;
  • The date and time of access;
  • The pages visited and for how long; and

This information is used for the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of the NAUS web site. The data are not connected to your personal information or identity.

Cookies are pieces of data that a web site transfers to an individual’s computer for record-keeping purposes. The use of cookies is a widely accepted practice – almost all major web sites use them to improve users’ online experiences.

Email Addresses

The email addresses of NAUS members and other NAUS web site users are not sold or rented to anyone. Members’ email addresses may be provided to third-party companies only if under contract to NAUS to conduct email newsletter distribution or other electronic member communications specifically authorized by NAUS.

Requests to Receive Information from NAUS

Persons who provide contact information in order to receive NAUS legislative alerts (via the CapWiz section of the NAUS web site), or any other NAUS electronic or printed communications (e.g., Weekly Legislative Update, Uniformed Services Journal, etc.), may be solicited for NAUS membership.

User Names and Passwords

NAUS members who access the web site must login to change their member profile information or to obtain access to certain sections of the site that may be restricted to members only. In order to login, users will need to provide a User Name and Password. Members are assigned a User Name and initial Password by NAUS and are encouraged to change their Password to something of their own choosing. Passwords are the private property of the individual member. If you forget your Password or User Name, you can send request NAUS membership staff to reset it to the originally assigned one, and you can establish a new login for continued web site access.
