General
The National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS) is committed
to protecting the privacy of our members, donors, customers and
other web site visitors or users. We want you to understand what
information we collect and how we use it. NAUS is the sole owner
of the information collected on this web site, and does not sell,
share or rent this information to others except as disclosed in
this privacy statement.
Information Collection and Use
NAUS does collect and use certain non-public personal information
from members and other web site visitors in order to fulfill requests
for information and assistance; to process online NAUS membership
applications and dues payments; to fulfill orders for NAUS publications
or merchandise; and to update membership profile information.
NAUS reserves the right to share information with trusted third-party
vendors under contract with NAUS to provide products or services
for NAUS and its membership. These parties are not allowed to
use personally identifiable information except for the purpose
of marketing and providing these products or services.
NAUS also shares aggregate information with our vendors and advertisers.
This aggregate information does not contain personally identifiable
information and therefore cannot identify any specific individual.
During your web site visit, NAUS will automatically gather and
store certain information about your visit but not about you personally.
NAUS automatically collects and stores the following visit information:
- The Internet domain from which access to the NAUS web site
is gained;
- The type of browser and operating system used to access the
NAUS site;
- The date and time of access;
- The pages visited and for how long; and
- The address of the web site from which the initial visit to
the NAUS web site was launched, if any.
This information is used for the purposes of system administration
and to audit the use of the NAUS web site. The data are not connected
to your personal information or identity.
NAUS may also use “cookie” technology to recognize
you and to hold certain information from your visit to enhance
your future visits. Cookies are pieces of data that a web site
transfers to an individual’s computer for record-keeping
purposes. The use of cookies is a widely accepted practice –
almost all major web sites use them to improve users’ online

Email Addresses
The email addresses of NAUS members and other NAUS web site users
are not sold or rented to anyone. Members’ email addresses
may be provided to third-party companies only if under contract
to NAUS to conduct email newsletter distribution or other electronic
member communications specifically authorized by NAUS.
Requests to Receive Information from NAUS
Persons who provide contact information in order to receive NAUS
legislative alerts (via the CapWiz section of the NAUS web site),
or any other NAUS electronic or printed communications (e.g.,
Weekly Legislative Update, Uniformed Services Journal, etc.),
may be solicited for NAUS membership.
User Names and Passwords
NAUS members who access the web site must login to change their
member profile information or to obtain access to certain sections
of the site that may be restricted to members only. In order to
login, users will need to provide a User Name and Password. Members
are assigned a User Name and initial Password by NAUS and are
encouraged to change their Password to something of their own
choosing. Passwords are the private property of the individual
member. If you forget your Password or User Name, you can send
request NAUS membership staff to reset it to the originally assigned
one, and you can establish a new login for continued web site
access.
Links to Other Sites
The NAUS web site includes links to other sites that may be of
use or general interest to NAUS members. NAUS is not responsible
for the privacy practices of these other sites. These sites may
send their own cookies to users, collect other data or solicit
personal information from users. NAUS encourages its members and
other web site users to become familiar with the privacy practices
of other sites, including linked sites.
Security
NAUS maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards
to protect your non-public personal information and all our web
site users’ information. Only NAUS employees who need personal
information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally
identifiable information. The servers used to store information
are maintained in a secure environment. When credit card information
is transmitted, NAUS uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed
to be 100% secure. While NAUS strives to protect your personal
information, NAUS cannot guarantee the security of any information
you transmit to us or from our online products or services. Unauthorized
attempts to upload information or change information on this web
site are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer
Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001 and 1030 and
related statutes. Information also may be used for authorized
law enforcement investigations. Except for the above purposes,
no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their
usage habits.

By using the NAUS web site, you consent to the collection and
use of the information described in this Privacy Statement by
NAUS. Any revisions to this Privacy Statement will be posted here.
